About this tool
FGTS is the severance fund every Brazilian employer pays into: 8% of the gross pay each month (2% for apprentices), plus the same rate on the 13th salary, the vacation bonus and notice paid in lieu. This calculator rebuilds that balance month by month from your salary and dates, applies the fund's yearly correction (3% plus TR and profit sharing, which you can adjust), and shows what happens when the job ends: the 40% fine on dismissal without cause, 20% and 80% of the balance in a mutual agreement, or nothing to withdraw on resignation. If you have your real balance from the FGTS app, type it in and the fine and withdrawal use it instead. Everything is calculated in your browser.
How to use it
- 1 Enter your gross monthly salary and, if you have them, the monthly average of overtime, commissions and other variable pay.
- 2 Choose the employment type (8% for CLT and domestic workers, 2% for apprentices) and the first and last month worked.
- 3 Pick how the job ends and whether the notice is paid in lieu; the calculator adds its FGTS and the fine.
- 4 Optional: type the balance shown in the FGTS app to base the fine and the withdrawal on the real value.
- 5 Read the balance, fine and withdrawal, and switch the yearly chart to a table or download it as CSV.
Frequently asked questions
How is the monthly FGTS deposit calculated?
The employer deposits 8% of the gross pay (salary plus overtime, commissions and other variable pay) every month; for apprentices it is 2%. The same rate applies to the 13th salary, the one-third vacation bonus and notice paid in lieu. It is not deducted from your salary.
How much is the fine when I am dismissed?
On dismissal without cause the employer pays 40% of all FGTS deposits made during the contract, with their correction. In a mutual agreement (CLT art. 484-A) the fine is 20% and you can withdraw 80% of the balance. On resignation or dismissal for just cause there is no fine and the balance stays in the account.
Why is my real balance different from the estimate?
The official balance depends on the deposits the employer actually made, past withdrawals, salary changes, the monthly TR and the yearly profit sharing. Use the field for the balance shown in the FGTS app to base the fine and withdrawal on the real value.
What if I opted for the birthday withdrawal (saque-aniversário)?
With the birthday withdrawal you take part of the balance every year in your birthday month, but when dismissed you receive only the fine; the balance stays blocked. The calculator shows the yearly birthday amount from the official table so you can compare.
Is my data sent anywhere?
No. The calculation runs in your browser and nothing you type is sent or stored.
