About this tool
Under Brazil's labour law (CLT), maternity leave lasts 120 days and may start up to 28 days before the birth. Companies in the Empresa Cidadã programme add 60 days, for 180 in total. Type the birth date (or the expected date) and the first day of the leave: the calculator gives the last day of the leave, the date you go back to work - also counting vacation taken right after -, the end of the job stability (5 months after the birth, when you cannot be dismissed without just cause) and the end of the two daily 30-minute breastfeeding breaks (until the baby is 6 months old). Everything on one timeline, calculated in your browser.
How to use it

- 2 Choose the first day of the leave: the birth day or up to 28 days before.
- 3 Pick 120 days (CLT) or 180 days (Empresa Cidadã) and add vacation if you will take it right after.
- 4 Read the return-to-work date and the timeline with stability and breastfeeding breaks.
