About this tool
Deadlines in Brazil are often counted in business days: payment terms, legal deadlines, delivery times. This calculator counts the working days between two dates, both included, or adds and subtracts a number of working days from a date. It skips Saturdays and Sundays and every national holiday, including Good Friday and Black Consciousness Day (20 November, national since 2024), computed for any year. You can also treat Carnival and Corpus Christi as days off, count Saturdays as working days and add the holidays of your state or city. Everything is calculated in your browser.
How to use it
- 1 Choose whether to count the days between two dates or to add business days to a date.
- 2 Pick the dates, or the start date and the number of days (negative to go back).
- 3 Tick Saturday if it is a working day for you, and Carnival/Corpus Christi if they are days off.
- 4 Type state or city holidays, one per line, and read the result with the list of holidays in the period.
Frequently asked questions
Which national holidays are counted?
New Year's Day, Carnival (optional), Good Friday, Tiradentes (21 Apr), Labour Day (1 May), Corpus Christi (optional), Independence Day (7 Sep), Our Lady of Aparecida (12 Oct), All Souls' Day (2 Nov), Republic Day (15 Nov), Black Consciousness Day (20 Nov, from 2024) and Christmas.
Are Carnival and Corpus Christi holidays?
Not national ones: they are optional days (ponto facultativo) for federal offices. Many cities, banks and companies close anyway, so the calculator lets you choose.
Are the start and end dates counted?
Between two dates, both are included when they are working days. When adding days, the start date is not counted: 1 business day after a Friday is the next Monday.
Does it know my city's holidays?
Not automatically. Type the state and city holidays in the list, one date per line, and they are skipped too.
